I wonder if there are records of who these people were before they were transferred there, and if some dna data has been collected.. or am I watching "bones" too much ?
they didn't have dna technology in the 18th century ;)
Ya think?
I meant now... Maybe there are some families looking for dead relatives, and they are just there, being photographed by millions of tourist every year..
I've been waiting for someone to post shots of that site. Thank you!
This is possibly going to sound weird, but what's it smell like in there? And is there a deep silence, or some kind of ambient noise. I'm always curious what pictures online DON'T tell you about any given site.
I'm the weird one, I went down there! What should I tell, the temperature is about 14 degrees of Celsius, somewhat humid (some water drops coming from the ceiling), a bit muddy floors, very silent (deep under ground!) max 200 people inside at the same time but the catacomb is about two kilometres long so there's no rush hour, people were also very silent... seeing all those bones make you serious... the smell - I didn't recall any smell, maybe the air was lightly stuffy
